I am an 11 year old, and an ardent follower of your columns. Recently, I switched to a new shampoo, and have been facing excess hair fall — even when I comb. My mother also has a rough scalp, dandruff, and hairfall problem. I have white patches on my face as well. Please suggest remedies to fix these problems. — Aysha

Both you and your mum should rub fresh aloe vera gel into your scalp. This will help reduce hair fall and improve the hair quality. I also suggest drinking 2 litres of filter of spring water daily. For your white patches, I suggest you consult a dermatologist.

I am 30 years old, and not only is my skin of an uneven tone, it is also loaded with pimples. I have been consulting a dermatologist, but it hasn’t helped at all. I have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovaries Disorder, and I was wondering if there could be a connection. Please help me! — Ambarin

Drinking aloe vera juice every morning on an empty stomach will help cleanse and calm your body, and also help improve the condition of your skin. Also try a mask of oats an aloe vera gel, which needs to be applied daily, and rinsed with cold water. Avoid using hot or warm water to cleanse the facial skin, as it activates the oils in the skin, and causes pimples.

My daughter has white patches on her face to excessive sun exposure, and it gets aggravated when she is under sunlight. I have tried applying sunscreen but it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference. Please suggest a home remedy to fix this. — Nancy

Even though I can suggest a home remedy, I also strongly suggest a consulting a dermatologist. To soothe the skin at home, you can make a mask with sandalwood powder and yoghurt, and apply it regularly. Not only does it soothe, it is an anti bacterial mask, which also provides good sun protection.

You can thicken the hair by using a mask made with 1-tablespoon fenugreek seeds (that have been pre-soaked and made into a paste), 1-tablespoon sesame seeds (that have been finely powdered), half a cup of coconut oil, and 2 tablespoons of castor oil. Thicken hair with a mask made from following ingredients. Fenugreek seeds 1 tablespoon soaked a couple of hours and made to paste. Sesame seeds 1 tablespoon powdered fine,take half cup coconut oil,2 tablespoon castor oil. Mix these ingredients together, boil, cool for a bit and then massage into scalp and hair. Post-shampoo, apply a few drops of castor oil while the hair is still damp, and air dry. Doing this twice a week will give your hair volume and shine.

I am a 28 year old with lines around my mouth, that seem to be getting darker by the day. Request you to kindly suggest a remedy to get rid of these lines as soon as possible. — Muskaan

Apply a thick mask of fresh coconut milk and corn flour on the affected area to fix your skin issue. I also suggest you splash chilled water daily on your skin.
