Artistic Cuppa
Now you can enjoy art while sipping your coffee at the same time. As a special treat for all coffee lovers during Ramadan, Costa Coffee is bringing out two exclusive, limited-edition artistic coffee cups.
Designed by renowned regional talents Majid Al Yousef and Wissam Shawkat, each cup features traditional calligraphy-inspired designs, with Shawkat's intricate, layered swirls, and Al Yousef's digital calligraphy and splashes of colour.
You can also make these cups your own for just Dh35 each, at select Costa outlets!
Climbing out of the blues
Mothers reading this: have you ever faced post-natal depression? Here's an event to help you literally climb out of this dark phase in your life.
Out of the Blues, a local non-profit group for UAE women who suffer from post-natal depression (PND), is holding an event in Dubai to raise awareness of the condition. Thirty women will come together on June 20, Saturday, to climb the nine-metre climbing pinnacle at Adventure HQ, symbolising their collective rise out of darkness.
The Dubai event is part of 'Climb Out of the Darkness', the world's largest event raising awareness of PND, anxiety, PTSD, and psychosis, created by Postpartum Progress, a nonprofit organisation that raises awareness and supports pregnant and new mums facing these conditions. Hundreds of women across the world will take part in climbs on June 20, and it will be the first time for Dubai.
PND affects one in ten women after they give birth.
To reserve a place at the event, email outofthebluesdubai@gmail.com

Season's silhouettes
Ramadan is here, and for lasses and ladies who would like to keep the decorum for the Holy Month while staying quietly fashionable, the new brand Adore Dubai has a line of signature abayas for the modern Muslim woman.
The Adore line draws inspiration from landscapes, cultures and the arts, and mainly the UAE's deep-rooted heritage. The Ramadan collection drapes the wearer softly, in a contemporary silhouette, and features filigree work, French lace, and Italian silks. For Eid, there's also a collection of casual and party abayas, and ornate jalabiyas.
Test your scientific IQ
Dubai is not all about shopping and eating out. If you're looking to awaken your scientific curiosity, the more cerebral among you should head to Café Scientifique Dubai. This month's meet-up - set to take place on June 26, Friday, at Urban Bistro in Media City - will discuss the concept of technological singularity and Artificial Intelligence.
Café Scientifique is a place where anyone can come to explore the latest ideas in science and technology: you get to discuss science, but outside the hardcore academic setting. It's the first group of its kind in the Middle East, and is part of the Café Scientifiques that were first set up in the UK in 1998 and spread to the rest of the world.
Past meet-ups have included talks on human brain-to-brain interface, the top ten mysteries in science, renewable energy for a sustainable planet and inventions that will change the world. Entry is free, but requires registration on centraltickets.com For more info, visit www.cafescidubai.com and facebook.com/cafescidubai
