But, don't worry - we've put together a list of apps that do everything from organising your cleaning schedule and reminding you when it's time to take out the trash to even making the chore seem like fun. Read on to find out how.
Unfilth your habitat
We all make those promises to clean our house but, let's face it, it's hard to keep that word without someone breathing down your neck. If you don't have such a person, Unfilth Your Habitat is probably your best bet. Its tagline reads 'terrifying motivation for lazy people with messy homes' and warns you straight up about the use of profanity. The app 'challenges you' to clean your room in five, 10 or 20-minute intervals and gives you the necessary motivation to do so (with a little shame and guilt). You can also make a customised to-do list and reminders to keep you on track.
Brightnest
This one goes beyond just cleaning - not only does BrightNest feature your basic cleaning schedule and post helpful reminders, it also gives you instructions on maintanence, cleaning tricks and home décor ideas! Once you download the app, you have to make a house profile and fill in personal goals, which can be about reducing clutter or even saving more money. Personalisation is offered through their home quiz - each answer gets awarded with a helpful article - and you also get tips based on your home's unique needs. Sounds like the whole package.
Chorma
If you're living in a house with other members, chances are you're sharing the chores as well. Chorma is a cool app if you want to divide the workload with your partner, kids or roommates. The app synchronises between devices so it's easy to coordinate between house members. Once you set it, all house members can add whatever tasks they want to the list and points are assigned according to difficulty. The app also suggests activities like a meal out - and the more you work, the less you pay for dinner.
Habitica
"Gamify your tasks" is what this super handy app aims to do. Habitica converts your daily tasks and chores into a game you simply must win. All you need to do is fill in your daily goals and a to-do list, and you can create a custom avatar. As you check off tasks, you are rewarded with new features like skills, pets, armours - and even quests! This one will have you racing through your chores in order to get more virtual gold and fight away monsters. A fun way to keep the house spick and span.
