My friends tell me my hair is always messy and frizzy, and that I should pay more attention to it. I don't know what to do - so please help. (I have wavy hair.)
- Arwa
Take 1 tablespoon aloe vera gel, and mix with 2 tablespoons coconut milk; apply on hair and scalp. Rinse off after an hour (you can also follow with a mild shampoo). Hair will feel smooth and soft, and stay in place. Do this thrice a week.
I'm a 13-year-old girl, and a huge fan of your column! I want to have supple and plump pink lips; I have dark upper lips with a dark outline. I also have dark spots on my face and chest that I want to get rid of. Finally, I'm looking for a natural face scrub made of simple ingredients. I always opt for natural remedies when it comes to my skin and I'm seeking recipes using basic items. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your lovely mail! For your lips: rub a slice of strawberry on them and rinse off after 10 minutes; do this every day; lips will be cleansed and acquire a healthy pinkish colour. A mask which will clear marks and also be an every day scrub: take 1 teaspoon finely-powdered rice powder, 1 teaspoon oats powder, and some yoghurt, and make a smooth paste. Apply on chest and face, and scrub off when dry. Rinse with clear water.
I am 15 years old and I've had a tan on my nose and forehead for almost a year. Can you please suggest some simple yet effective remedies, that won't require a lot of time - since I am in the 10th standard? Thank you in advance!

Take 1 tablespoon of thick tomato purée, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, and some almond powder, and mix together. Apply a thick layer on the nose and forehead. When dry, scrub off and rinse with cold water. The tan will disappear in a week to 10 days.
I'm a 17-year-old boy who follows your column. I have some visible grey hair in the middle of my head; can you please suggest a home remedy to take care of it?

I'm happy guys are getting conscious of their skin and hair! Coffee, tea and hibiscus are all natural colourants. Make black tea or use a hibiscus tea bag to make red tea or take 1 teaspoon coffee powder and mix with 1 tablespoon water. Dip cotton wool into any of these, and dab on grey hair, coating it several times. When dry, leave overnight and rinse the next day. Do this daily. Gradually, the grey will get covered.
During summer, my hair gets oily really fast. I don't have time to wash my hair every day. Are there natural alternatives to dry shampoos?
- Jenny
Corn flour, talcum powder, sandalwood powder and lentil flour, all absorb oil. The best solution is if, after shampooing, you did a final rinse with lemon water, and allow it to dry on the scalp. This shrinks pores; natural oils, that make hair greasy, will not be secreted.
