I am a 14-year-old girl with a lot of dandruff in my hair. Recently, I have been suffering from severe hair fall, even when I comb my hair gently. I also have a lot of acne and spots on my face. Please suggest natural home remedies using ingredients easily available at home.
- Delancy

Dandruff can cause both acne and hair fall. To arrest the problem, take 1 tablespoon aloe vera gel, and add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to it; mix well; apply this on your scalp and on the acne. Rinse off after 1 hour. Avoid conditioning your hair till your dandruff disappears.
I am a 12-year-old girl, and I have two problems. The first one is that my hands and legs are tanned. The second one is that my lips are very dark. I would like to lighten them. Can you please suggest some home remedies for the above?
- Tehzeeb
For dark legs and arms: take fresh tomato juice and add oats powder to it. Apply this mask to affected areas and scrub off after 1 hour. Skin will start lightening if done everyday. For the lips: apply a thin film of honey mixed with a few drops of milk. Leave on for 10 minutes and then scrub off; do this to exfoliate the dark dead skin. The lips will become smooth, soft and pink.

Is there a natural and effective way to prevent the occurrence of ingrown hair on my legs and chin?
- Anugraha
Ingrown hair occurs due to poor circulation. Dry body brushing on the legs will activate circulation and you'll be able to see the growth reducing. Once the hair grows back, try a
razor shave: this speeds up the hair growth and your problem will be solved. For your chin, take cinnamon paste, and massage it over the affected area; cinnamon helps blood circulation, which will enable the ingrown hair to come to the base.

I am a 17-year-old. I have an oily scalp; it gets very oily within three days of shampooing. I have also been suffering from tremendous hair fall. Please suggest effective remedies for both these problems - which I can follow during school days also.
- Name withheld

Oily scalp could be due to your diet: if you are consuming hot, spicy and oily food and/or indulging in excessive consumption of caffeine. Take a fine-tooth comb, dip it in baking powder and then run it through your hair. Wrap your hair in a turban, and, 20 minutes later, give it a gentle massage and shampoo with cold water. In the final rinse, take a tumbler filled with black tea and some lemon juice, and rinse your hair with this. You do not need to rinse your hair again. This treatment will arrest hair fall and reduce the oiliness. Doing this twice or thrice a week will be effective.

Can you please suggest a remedy for dark lips?
- Ruquaya
Dark lips may sometimes be due to a poor diet, so add leafy green vegetables, beets, pomegranates and berries to your diet. During the day, rub a papaya to the lips and rinse after 15 minutes. At night, before sleeping, rub full-cream milk film on the lips. Leave on overnight. This treatment will help exfoliate your lips, and make them lighter.
