It took us some time to warm to this new berry, but now that we've tasted it, there's no turning our backs. Move aside, avocado toast, muesli muffins, and kale smoothies. Enter the açaí berries from the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. Here's why you need to DIY an açaí bowl now. We made ours using Tropicool's Açaí Pulp, and whilst eating the berries is going to add a glow to our skin, we also did our bit towards the environment. For every two Tropicool sold, a tree gets planted in the Brazilian Amazon!
ONE: It tastes like chocolate. You can fool not just your children, but even adults into eating spoonful (s!), for the beverage's purplish-brown colour is one that resembles of melted chocolate, even Nutella some say.
TWO: The super fruit of 2020, which is pretty, and not green. Yes, not all things healthy have to taste poorly. Leading the bandwagon are the berries, loaded with powerful plant compounds that act as antioxidants, the fruit is naturally sugar-free, rich in antioxidants, polyphenols and flavonoids. It's going to boost up your energy and immunity levels, plus it has anti-ageing properties too.
THREE: Instagram-friendly food with over 1.6 million posts tagged with #acai, you know that your Instagram is in love with this social media bowl. Make yours with toppings and colours of your choice. Ours included chia seeds, pumpkin seeds and desiccated coconut.
FOUR: Yay for vegans! Vegans, here's a bowl, which will let you make a statement, stick to what you believe in, and of course, show the world that vegan food can be fun, beautiful and yummy. You could even bake yourself a vegan açaí banana ice cream or an açaí berry cheesecake.
FIVE: The berry, which loves other fruits. Yes, the tiny berry, with massive Instagram following, gels well with all other fruits as well. You can add in other fruits to it, to make yummy smoothies or add chunks of strawberry, apple, kiwi, et al, as toppings.
Here's a DIY recipe to give a try!
