Light rainfall in parts of Abu Dhabi brings down mercury

According to the NCMS, weather in general has been cloudy with light rain over the western region of the country and the nearby islands.

Abu Dhabi: Most parts of Abu Dhabi's western region and the capital city on Monday witnessed light to moderate rain with temperatures dropping down to between 18 and 20 Celsius.

According to reports reaching from different parts of the Emirate, the weather has been pleasant since early morning with dark clouds covering the areas with intermediate light to moderate rain.

In the capital city, clouds started gathering early in the morning with drizzling by 1pm and moderate rain continued from late afternoon till evening.

The pleasant weather also forced people, mainly families, to head to the Corniche and Yas Island areas to enjoy the moderate rain.

Normally we go out to celebrate the in the evening but now we are here on the Corniche to enjoy the weather and celebrate the country’s National Day,' said Abdul Aziz Mohammed. In Al Gharbia (formerly the Western Region) it has been cloudy from early morning with moderate rain falling from noon and continuing till evening.

'From early morning it has been cloudy with the moderate rain started from noon. It is still raining and we could see pools of water all over. However, this time we did not witness heavy winds but the temperature is far below the ones we witness here normally,” said Jamshed Ahmed, an expatriate worker.

Al Ghantoot area of Abu Dhabi also witnessed similar weather condition with entire being cloudy with drizzling and moderate rains.

Similar weather conditions were reported Al Khazna, Al Wathbah and Musaffah.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), weather in general has been cloudy with light rain over the western region of the country and the nearby islands.

'There were fresh light to strong winds, especially over the sea, and causing blowing dust at times over the internal areas. The relative humidity will increase during night and early morning times over some internal areas. Sea will be rough at times in the Arabian Gulf, and moderate to rough at Oman Sea,” the NCMS report suggests.
