Temperatures on Friday reached 36 degree Celsius in Dubai, which — along with many other parts of the country including Al Ain and the Western Region — experienced the desert haze.

A National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology spokesman said it was a combination of a southerly wind flow and warm air that was causing more turbulence than usual, in turn blowing the sand into the atmosphere.

“This weather will continue tomorrow and the day after, and tomorrow and the day after will be worse than today,” he said on Friday. The weather was very normal for this time of year, in the transition from winter to summer, he said.

He cautioned residents to remain vigilant while driving over the next few days, due to the deteriorated visibility.

“Over the next few days, take care on the highway and in the desert, the visibility sometimes may be poor due to the dust and haze. Everybody should take care driving.”
