Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, who is also the Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) has directed the RCS to quickly implement the President's order by coordinating with the appropriate bodies in charge of the Al Aqsa Mosque and other Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem.

Khalifa Nasir Al Suwaidi, RCS Board Chairman, said that the initiative of the UAE President, reflects his commitment to protect the Islamic nation's holy sites so as to continue to serve as the source of religious and civilisational inspiration for Muslims, adding that Shaikh Zayed's directives came after the RCS received a report from the body in charge of overseeing the affairs of the Al Aqsa Mosque, which said that the dome was in dire need of repairs from the several cracks it suffered from the recent earth tremor.

He said the RCS moved in quickly to bring into effect Shaikh Zayed's directives, adding that the RCS was already in close contact with its representatives in Jerusalem for direct coordination with the Al Aqsa Mosque Committee in Jerusalem.
