RAS Al KHAIMAH -Mubarak Ali Al Shamsi, Director-General of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, said that no mediation would be allowed in the process of selection of beneficiaries of the housing loans under the Zayed Housing Programme in Ras Al Khaimah.
Al Shamsi told Khaleej Times that the Emiratis who wanted to take these loans had to submit their applications with the required documents, including surety papers like title deeds and salary certificates, directly to the Central Committee of the Zayed Housing Programme through the Ras Al Khaimah Municipality within the specified time limit.
He said the municipality was cooperating with the Land Department to regulate the programme and simplify the process of allocation of plots of land to the UAE nationals.
'As many as 2,997 Emiratis in Ras Al Khaimah have already been allocated plots. However, the workload of the staff has increased since the applications have to pass through many processes in a short span of time. The programme has to be updated every six months,' he said.
He said the names of selected persons would be announced periodically after the approval of the Central Committee of the programme.
According to Al Shamsi, the number of applicants for the programme in Ras Al Khaimah had reached 12,000. The applications were being scrutinised based on certain standards and the surety documents submitted.
He said the municipality had discussed with the central committee the issue of some Emiratis who had applied for housing loans since 1997 but had not been granted the same till now due to certain technical problems. Their cases would be solved soon but they had to update the data provided.
Al Shamsi said Shaikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, had given top priority to housing for all citizens of the emirate and had ordered to provide land to all who had been selected for the housing loans.
'The municipality is trying to find a solution to the shortage of residential land in some areas,' he said.On the allocation of some agricultural areas in the emirate for residential projects, Al Shamsi said a study was being carried out by the Department of Planning and Urban Expansion. There were plans to use some of the reserved agricultural land for housing projects as the emirate was witnessing a huge increase in the population.'
