Workshop calls for concerted efforts to improve education
DUBAI - The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs (MSFNCA) has conducted a workshop on the educational challenges in the UAE.

Officials of the Ministry of Education and other government bodies, policy advisors, education specialists, and representatives of private schools took part in the workshop.
Chaired by Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for FNCA, the workshop provided an informal forum for debate to generate new ideas for further improving the education sector.

“Together can we improve education standards in the UAE,” said Dr Gargash.
The presentations at the workshop included a keynote paper from McKinsey and Company which unveiled the findings of a major benchmark study of the world's top-performing schools. The study identified the quality of teaching as the most important factor in students' success.
The Minister of Education, Dr Hanif Hassan, discussed the Ministry of Education's reform strategy at the workshop. He said the UAE clearly recognises the need to keep improving education in cooperation with the private sector.
Dr Amal Al Qubaisi, FNC member and Chair of the FNC's Education, Youth, Information and Culture Affairs Committee, presented the results of a survey on education in the UAE. The survey, conducted by the FNC Education Committee, calls for better communication with stakeholders, including teachers, on national policy goals.
