A worker, who molested a 10-year-old girl while at her parents' house to do some painting work, has been ordered jailed for six months by a Dubai court. Public prosecution records show the 24-year-old Pakistani worker groped and kissed the British girl on June 7 in Al Barsha.
The Court of First Instance ordered his deportation at the end of his prison term.
The girl's father, a manager, said the family was gathered to eat when he spotted his daughter looking ill. "When I asked her if everything was okay, she told us that a worker, who was painting our house, molested her in a room."
The girl recounted to her father that she went in a room to see the new paint when the worker touched her inappropriately. "The worker went outside, came back and touched her again. She walked away from him but he followed her to tell her not to tell anybody about it," the father told the prosecutor.
As she felt scared, she waited until the painter left their house before telling her brother about the incident. She then told her parents.
The father filed a complaint at Al Barsha police station right away. The worker was arrested the next day.
The girl told the investigator the worker kept looking at her in a "scary way".
A police corporal said: "The defendant claimed he slipped, lost balance and touched the girl accidentally. But then he touched her again."
The accused admitted during the investigation that he touched the girl inappropriately.
The court ruling has been appealed.
