UAE's NCM issues yellow alert for rain, a day after unstable weather seen in Abu Dhabi
The alert also cautions residents of fresh to strong winds, resulting in blowing dust and sand, and reduced horizontal visibility

UAE's National Centre of Meteorology has issued a yellow alert for rain, active till 9pm today (August 22), in some parts of the country, including Al Ain, which saw heavy rains on Friday.
The yellow alert warns of a chance that convective clouds may form — these are associated with rainfall. The alert also cautions residents of fresh to strong winds, resulting in blowing dust and sand, and reduced horizontal visibility.

Weather forecast today
According to UAE's NCM, the weather will be fair to partly cloudy today. Convective clouds are likely to form towards the eastern and southern parts of the country by afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to rise gradually, with highs of 46°C in Abu Dhabi, 44°C in Dubai and Sharjah, while lows across the three emirates will be around 33°C.
It will be humid by night and Sunday morning over some coastal areas.
Humidity levels are expected to range from 15 to 65 per cent in Abu Dhabi, 20 to 60 per cent in Dubai and 15 to 55 per cent in Sharjah.
Light to moderate winds will blow from the southeast to northeast, freshening at times and reaching speeds of up to 50kmph.
Heavy rain on Friday
On August 21, heavy rain, thunder and lightning was seen in some parts of Abu Dhabi. Trees and road signs could be seen shaking as residents in cars drove through water-lined streets.
The weather conditions also prompted precautionary measures across the capital. Abu Dhabi City Municipality temporarily closed all parks, recreational facilities and affiliated beaches and suspended events until further notice. Al Ain City Municipality also announced the temporary closure of parks.
Al Ain later said that its parks have reopened while Abu Dhabi announced the reopening of its parks, recreational facilities, and affiliated beaches.
The municipality said the measures were taken as a precaution to protect residents and ensure public safety amid fluctuating weather and heavy rainfall in several parts of Abu Dhabi.
