UAE weather: Yellow alert issued for fog; motorists urged to reduce speed when driving

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a warning to motorists regarding poor visibility caused by fog formation on Sunday morning.

The weather department sent out a yellow alert on February 9, notifying residents of a deterioration in horizontal visibility, which may drop even further at times over some internal areas until 9.30 in the morning.

Abu Dhabi Police called on motorists to exercise caution due to reduced visibility during the fog, in a post on X. Drivers are urged to follow changing speed limits displayed on electronic information boards.

Generally, UAE residents can expect fair to partly cloudy conditions on Sunday along with a decrease in temperatures, over some northern areas, along with coastal regions and islands during daytime.

The weather will be humid by night and Monday morning with a probability of mist formation over some internal areas.

Light to moderate winds will blow in a northwesterly direction, causing dust to blow towards the north. Wind speed will be between 15 and 25 kmph, and can reach up to 40kmph.

The sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate to rough in Oman Sea.
