Written by Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman Al Mosnid, a Saudi expert, the recent report says that today marks the final day of summer, which lasted 91 days.

The period between August 24 and September 6, while the Suhail star is visible in the sky, is traditionally known as a time of abundant date harvests, marking an important season for farmers and date enthusiasts across the Gulf region.

Rain forecast

The report, presented in the form of a chart, provides a detailed breakdown of the expected duration of each season.

Autumn is predicted to last 92 days, with early autumn rains expected to begin on October 3.

Starting September 16, the report notes that rains conducive to the growth of desert truffles will occur, a period that also coincides with a rise in flu cases. Desert truffles, known as kamaa in Arabic, are a part of the fungi family and represent a staple of Emirati cuisine.

From November 11, residents can expect cooler nights, and by November 24, temperatures are forecast to drop noticeably, signalling the full arrival of winter.

Winter will start on December 7, according to the report, with the coldest day year-round expected on January 2.
