UAE weather: Chance of rain in some areas; temperatures to hit 49ºC

It will be humid by Sunday night and Monday morning over some coastal western areas, with a probability of fog or mist formation

Residents in some parts of the UAE can expect rainfall on Sunday (August 3), a welcome respite from Friday's maximum temperature of 51.8, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

The weather department noted that rainfall can be expected over the next few days, too. On Sunday, skies will remain fair to partly cloudy, with a probability of some convective cloud formation eastward and southward by afternoon, may be associated with rainfall.

Despite predictions of rain, overall conditions will still be warm. Temperatures will range between 44°C and 49°C in internal areas. Dubai residents can expect a maximum temperature of 45°C and a minimum of 33°C. Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi will see a lowest of 34°C and highest of 47°C, while Sharjah mercury will range between 32°C and 45°C.

The met department predicted that it will be humid by Sunday night and Monday morning over some coastal western areas, with a probability of fog or mist formation. Humidity levels will reach a maximum of 90 per cent in coastal and island areas.

Southeasterly to northeasterly winds will range from light to moderate, which could get freshening at times and could cause blowing dust across the country. Gusts will be gentle, with a speed of 10-25kmph and may pick up and reach up to 40kmph.

The sea will be slight to moderate at times in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.
