The UAE entered a short period of rainy weather on Tuesday, March 31, expected to last until Wednesday, April 1, 2026. As the wet weather began, Abu Dhabi Police took to X to warn drivers not to park under bridges and tunnels during rainfall.

The authority said that parking vehicles in these areas lead to traffic congestion and increase the probability of accidents — which are already more likely in unstable weather conditions.

The areas under bridges and in tunnels, compact as they are, do not leave much room for error. The safety risks are heightened during the rain as visibility drops and the chances of skidding are higher.

The police said that vehicles must park in safe locations to ensure the safety of other motorists. They also emphasised the importance of keeping a safe distance, reducing speeds and avoiding distractions while driving.

Another important measure to remember — particularly during periods of heavy rain — is avoiding areas where water accumulates or low-lying zones that may experience sudden water flow. This includes valleys and mountainous areas.
