UAE braces for unstable weather: Sharjah closes park due to rainy conditions

Authorities across the Emirates issued warnings and alerts to keep residents and motorists informed and safe amid heavy rainfall

Sharjah authorities announced that the Al Qarain 5 Park in the Muwaileh suburb, hosting the Dawahi Festival, will remain closed on Sunday, December 14, due to current weather conditions in the UAE.

The 14th edition of the Dawahi Festival, which started on December 5 will continue until December 29 at Al Qarain 5 Park in the Muwaileh suburb. The festival features more than 30 government entities and offers over 75 workshops and awareness lectures, in addition to major prizes for visitors.

However, the Department of Suburbs Affairs announced that the park will remain closed today, following heavy rains and thunderstorms across the country, as per the unstable weather warnings previously issued by UAE authorities. Residents experienced waterlogging, cascading waterfalls in the mountains, and strong gusty winds across the country.

Unstable weather warning

Khaleej Times earlier reported that Dubai and several parts of the UAE are bracing for a prolonged spell of unstable weather, with residents likely to experience scattered showers, heavy downpours, thunder, hail and a noticeable drop in temperatures.
