UAE residents can expect some rainfall on Saturday (March 21), according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

The weather department noted that conditions will be partly cloudy to cloudy, interspersed with some convective clouds, and there is a chance of rainfall over scattered areas.

The NCM issued an orange alert as cloud formation over scattered areas, combined with active to strong winds raising dust and sand, is expected to reduce horizontal visibility between 8pm and 10pm.

Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds will be freshening at times and will cause blowing dust and sand, reducing the horizontal visibility. Winds will be gentle, with gusts of 10-25 km/h, and may pick up and reach up to 40 km/h.

While rains are expected, Abu Dhabi will see temperatures that could reach up to 32ºC and a low of 23ºC, while Dubai can see highs of 31ºC and a low of 24ºC.

The sea will be slight to moderate, becoming rough at times with clouds in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea.

The NCM earlier said that some areas could see thunder and lightning, with a chance of hail in limited locations.

NCEMA said on Thursday that it is taking proactive measures to brace for the unstable weather and to assess the situation. The authority said that it will work with the Ministry of Interior, NCM and other key partners during this time to monitor developments and to keep business community plans in place.
