UAE weather: Fog blankets parts of the country; red alert issued

Light frost was recorded early Friday morning in Raknah, with field measurements showed readings close to 1°C

UAE residents are in for fair to partly cloudy weather on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

The National Centre of Meteorology has issued yellow and red alerts on fog from 12am to 10am today.

The NCM has warned that the weather will get humid by Saturday night and Sunday morning over some internal areas, with a chance of fog or mist formation.

Winds will be light to moderate, becoming active to strong at times over the sea, raising dust. Northwesterly to southwesterly winds will blow at a speed of 10 to 20kmph, reaching up to 30kmph.

Temperatures in Abu Dhabi will see a low of 15°C and a high of 24°C. Dubai temperatures will range between 13°C and 24°C on Saturday, the NCM said in its latest bulletin.

The lowest temperature recorded over the country on Friday morning was 3.7°C in Raknah (Al Ain) at 5:45am, and the highest was 26.5°C in Kalba (Sharjah) at 1:15pm, according to the NCM.

However, according to Yousef Al Qasimi, a member of the Emirates Astronomical Society, light frost was recorded early Friday morning in Raknah. While official weather stations recorded temperatures around 4°C, field measurements showed readings close to 1 degree above zero.
