With the hottest days of the UAE summer now officially behind us following the end of the Mirzam period today, Sunday, August 10, some residents witnessed heavy rainfall and even hail.

During Al Mirzam, which began on July 29, hot desert winds reach their peak in the country. These winds, known as 'samum' in Arabic, cause temperatures to soar above 50°C.

Residents in some Eastern parts of the country experienced heavy rainfall, hailstorms, and flowing wadis. In its weather forecast, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has predicted rains to hit some parts of the country until Tuesday, August 12.
