UAE weather: Red alert issued as fog continues; humid night ahead

The weather in the UAE will be fair to partly cloudy at times today, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

Residents can expect foggy weather to continue on Wednesday, with the chance of fog or mist forming over internal areas. It will be humid by night and Thursday morning.

The Met issued red and yellow alerts due to thick fog in some parts of the country, warning residents of a drop in horizontal visibility until 10am today.

Temperatures are on the rise, with Abu Dhabi and Sharjah seeing highs of 33°C and 31ºC and lows of 20°C and 18°C respectively. Meanwhile, Dubai residents will experience a maximum temperature reaching 32°C and the minimum staying at 21°C.

Overall temperatures in the country are expected to hit a high of 35ºC in internal regions and dip to a low of 9ºC in these areas. Meanwhile, humidity levels will rise to a high of 90 per cent in internal areas of the country and dip to 15 per cent in these parts.

Light to moderate winds will blow from the southeasterly to northwesterly directions. While the wind speed will mostly range between 10 km/h and 25 km/hr, it might pick up, reaching 40 km/hr.

The sea will be slight to moderate, becoming gradually rough by night, in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.
