Northwesterly winds sweeping through parts of the UAE are kicking up dust and reducing visibility to less than 3,000 metres in some areas, according to a fresh weather alert issued Tuesday afternoon. The conditions are expected to persist until 9pm.

With Ramadan in full swing and residents likely to step out for iftar gatherings around 6.35pm, authorities are urging caution, especially on roads where visibility may be significantly impacted.

The National Centre of Meteorology forecasts continued unsettled conditions over the next few days. Wednesday will see cloudy skies at times, with fresh winds during the day, especially over the sea. Conditions are expected to become humid by night and into Thursday morning, with a chance of fog or mist over coastal and internal areas.

The Arabian Gulf will be rough to moderate on Wednesday, calming to slight conditions by Thursday, with light to moderate northwesterly to northeasterly winds reaching up to 35 km/h.

From Thursday through Saturday, fair to partly cloudy weather is expected across the country, with temperatures inching up slightly. Humidity will continue to rise overnight, increasing the likelihood of fog formation, especially in western regions.

Motorists are advised to drive with care during low visibility hours, and beachgoers should be cautious of changing sea conditions over the next 48 hours.
