Residents in the UAE may experience rain on Friday, December 26, as the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has predicted partly cloudy to cloudy weather over some northern and eastern areas.

It will be humid by night and Saturday morning over some coastal and internal areas, with a chance of fog or mist formation.

The NCM issued a fog alert on Friday morning, warning residents of deteriorating horizontal visibility, which may even drop further at times over some internal areas between 5am and 9:30am.

On Friday, temperatures are set to drop to 17°C in Abu Dhabi, 18°C in Sharjah and 19°C in Dubai. Abu Dhabi and Sharjah will both see a high of 24°C, while the maximum temperature in Dubai is expected to be 26°C.

The NCM earlier predicted moderate weather with the chance of light rainfall throughout the period from December 25 to 29 in the UAE. The cold season officially began on December 22, although residents have been feeling the chilly weather since the heavy rains and thunderstorms that hit the country last week.

Light to moderate winds will blow from the southwesterly to northwesterly directions. These winds will generally have a speed of 10 to 20km/h, but may reach up to 35 km/h. The sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.
