UAE weather: Orange alert issued for 'thunder rain'; dusty conditions expected

Winds will be moderate to fresh, in a northwesterly to southwesterly direction, and can reach up to high speeds of 45kmph

An orange alert has been issued for the formation of convective clouds, thunder rain, and winds causing blowing dust and sand. Yellow alerts have also been issued for these conditions, along with rough seas.

Residents can expect partly cloudy to cloudy conditions today. In addition, the formation of convective clouds may bring rainfall over some areas, including northern and eastern parts.

The winds will be moderate to fresh, in a northwesterly to southwesterly direction, with a speed of 15kmph to 30kmph. Winds can reach up to high speeds of 45kmph.

Dusty and sandy conditions will prevail as winds blow. The sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.

Temperatures will dip as low as 14ºC in Dubai, and 13ºC in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Temperatures may range up to 21ºC in Abu Dhabi, 22ºC in Sharjah, and 23ºC in Dubai.

Rain lashed the country over the past two days. Parks were closed, attractions shut doors, and remote work was announced. Authorities worked round the clock to restore normalcy and reopen activities as weather conditions improved.
