Unstable weather conditions are set to continue in the UAE on Friday, December 18, as the low-pressure system that has been affecting the region moves westward, covering more parts of the country.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued orange and yellow alerts for heavy rain brought by convective clouds over the western and coastal regions of the UAE — including Fujairah. Strong winds are expected to cause blowing dust and sand, reducing horizontal visibility.

The orange alert is in place until 1.40pm today, while the yellow alert is active until 4pm.

Temperatures are set to decrease significantly, according to the met department. The mercury will range between 17ºC and 22ºC in Abu Dhabi, 16ºC and 23ºC in Dubai, and 15ºC and 21ºC in Sharjah.

Fresh Southeasterly winds reaching up to 40kmph will blow across the country. The sea will be rough at times in the Arabian Gulf with wave height reaching 6 feet until 4pm today.

The sea will also be rough in the Oman Sea.
