UAE weather: Rains likely in some parts of country; mercury to hit high of 47ºC

The UAE can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies on Friday, August 22, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
Residents may also experience some rainfall in the eastern and southern areas of the country, following a pattern seen over the week, with heavy rains hitting Al Ain and surrounding areas. Authorities issued alerts to residents to be cautious, and for drivers.
Light to moderate winds are expected to blow during the day, from the southeasterly to northwesterly directions. These winds, which can go from 10 – 25km/hr to 35 km/hr, will cause blowing dust.

Temperatures are expected to range from 33ºC to 42ºC in Abu Dhabi, and from 34ºC to 41ºC in Dubai. In Sharjah, the maximum temperature will be 42ºC, and the minimum will be 32ºC.
The highest temperature in the country today is expected to be 47ºC in internal areas. Humidity levels will range between 10 and 70 per cent.
The lowest temperature in the country on Friday — 24ºC — is expected to be recorded at Jebel Jais.
Conditions at sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.
