UAE weather: 49°C highest temperature, blowing dust reduces visibility

The NCM issued a yellow alert on Saturday, warning residents of strong winds and blowing dust

Light drizzles or rain are expected over some eastern and southern parts of the UAE on Saturday, August 16, as per the daily weather forecast issued by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

Overall, skies will be partly cloudy, becoming cloudy at times. Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds are expected, with occasional strengthening during the day.

The NCM issued a yellow alert on Saturday, warning residents of fresh to strong southeasterly winds at times, reaching 45Km/h causing blowing dust and sand. Horizontal visibility is reduced to less than 2000 metre over some internal and coastal areas from 8am until 6pm on Saturday.

The NCM sent out a yellow alert for rough seas in the Arabian Gulf on Saturday morning, with wave height reaching 6 feet offshore from 6:20am to 7pm.

Hot conditions will continue with a high of 47°C in Abu Dhabi and 46°C in Dubai. The lowest temperature on Saturday in Abu Dhabi and Dubai will be 33°C. The mercury may rise to a high of 44°C in Sharjah and Ajman, with the lowest temperature being 33°C in these two Emirates as well.
