Watch: Truck driver killed in horrific accident as vehicle catches fire in Dubai

Dubai Police on Friday said that the driver of a massive truck passed away after the vehicle caught fire and collided with another.

The authority shared a video that showed the large vehicle go up in flames and veer off its lane to crash into another truck.

The police added that it is imperative to regularly maintain one's vehicle to ensure your safety and the safety of those around you. Time and again, authorities have reminded residents to get their vehicles checked by professionals to ensure that it is safe on roads.

This week, UAE's Ministry of Interior revealed that Dubai tops the list in terms of fatalities and injuries at 158 – just ahead of Abu Dhabi at 123.

The authority also released data pertaining to multiple other emirates and traffic safety across the country.

Overall, the number of deaths and injuries across the UAE last year (384 road deaths plus 6,032 injuries; for a total of 6,416) rose by 8.3 per cent or 496 cases more than the 5,920 recorded in 2023.

A total of 4,748 major accidents were recorded in 2024, up by 8 per cent or 357 cases compared to 2023; and 20 per cent or 803 more than the 3,945 cases recorded in 2022.
