The Lulu Group has signed an agreement with Australia-based Tech innovators, FilMe, to make watching movies easier and stress-free at home.

Through FilMe’s innovative solution, customers won’t require any subscriptions, downloads, sign up or credit cards to watch the latest movies.

They just have to scan a QR code to play the chosen movie immediately. It works seamlessly on all smartphones and has the following key USPs:

>> No subscription required.

>> No app download required.

>> No sign up or credit card required.

>> Half the cost of a single cinema ticket.

>> Can be shared with up to 7 people over 7 days at no extra cost.

As per the agreement, movies released in partnership with the Lulu Group will be exclusively available at Lulu Hypermarkets across all regions using Virtual Movie Tickets with QR codes.

Faisal Mushtaq, CEO of Me Time Entertainment, the exclusive distributor of FilMe in the GCC, said: “Movie watching in the GCC will never be the same again, as this is a real game changer. We have tie-ups with Fox Star, RSVP, Jio Studios, and Viacom 18, among major production studios and they are in advance discussion with Arabic, Malayalam, Tamil & Filipino, movie content for GCC."

Subhash Nair, Director Marketing & Distribution of Me Time Entertainment, said: "Lulu Hypermarket is obviously the most ideal choice as a strategic re-selling partner, with more than 200 stores spread across GCC catering to a wide demographical mix.”

As part of a launch campaign, Lulu will be selling these 'Virtual Movie Tickets with QR Codes' from Dh5 to Dh20, inclusive of all taxes.

V. Nandakumar, Director Marketing & Communications at Lulu Group International, said: “We are very excited to be part of this innovative movie viewing experience. With the current safety protocols in place, there is huge growing demand for home entertainment and I think FilMe will be the perfect option, especially with its low cost and easy-to-use proposition."

Tickets will go on sale from April 1 for upcoming blockbusters.
