Watch: Car veers off Sharjah road, hits footpath after sudden swerving

Sharjah Police warned motorists to avoid sudden swerving in order to get to the exit. If a driver misses their intended exit, they must take the next one instead of rushing across the road at the last minute, authorities warned.
Police shared a video of a car which rapidly moved across lanes in a last-minute effort to reach the nearby exit. The car attempted to move from the second leftmost lane to the right lanes designated for the right turn.

However, due to the proximity of the exit, the vehicle veered off the road, running onto the footpath, causing it to violently shake, and leading to some damage to the car. Watch the video, by Sharjah Police, here:

The data reveals that sudden swerving, which is often the result of missed exits, impatience, or lack of attention, caused 905 accidents in 2025, making it the single biggest cause for crashes nationwide last year.
In the UAE, sudden swerving is a major traffic violation under the Federal Traffic Law. It is punishable by a Dh1,000 fine and four black points. Penalties can escalate in serious cases to include heavier fines, court imprisonment.
