An Emirati volunteer taking part in the clinical trials for a potential Covid-19 vaccine in Abu Dhabi has shared his experience.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office on Saturday shared a video in which Hamad Al Balushi explains why he volunteered in "humanity's fight against the pandemic".
"I am very happy that I am among the first volunteers for phase III of the inactivated vaccine against Covid-19. I am looking forward to the success of these trials, which will have a positive impact on our community, the nation and the world," he said.
Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, had said last week that 10,000 volunteers have signed for the trials. Up to 15,000 volunteers are being sought to take part in the trials. Registration is still open to volunteers through the website www.4humanity.ae.
Individuals would need to meet certain criteria in order to qualify for the trials. They should:
> Be aged between 18 and 60 years
> Be in good health
> Not be suffering from chronic diseases
> Have no history of Covid-19 infection
As part of the trials, they will be given two doses of the vaccine within a period of three weeks. This will be followed by monthly follow-ups for a year.
The aim of the initiative is to help provide quick access to the vaccine for UAE residents, with manufacturing taking place in Abu Dhabi.
