Video: Dubai Police seize 23 cars for tampering with number plates to bypass traffic cameras

In 2024, Dubai Police seized 23 vehicles after the owners were caught tampering with number plates to bypass smart monitoring devices and traffic systems.
In a tweet on X, Dubai Police confirmed that it had seized those vehicles after the owners were caught in "a clear violation of traffic laws". In the video below, people can be seen using cans of spray paint on the car's licence plate, and unscrewing it.

The authority added that these violators will be dealt with "firmly".

The authority has said that the vehicle of those tampering with vehicle licence plates will be impounded. The fine to release the impounded vehicle is Dh50,000 under Decree No. 30 of 2023.
