Neglect of property that distorts the city’s appearance or any property that poses a risk to public safety in Abu Dhabi will invite heavy penalties for the property owners.
Abu Dhabi's Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has begun implementing The Regulations on the Preservation of Public appearances in the UAE in accordance with Law No. 2 of 2012.
Law No. 2 of 2012 prohibits any activity that could adversely impact the appearance, cultural, architectural, or aesthetic features of public areas in the emirate, such as green spaces, walkways, buildings, marketplaces, and public roads. The law concerns the maintenance of the general appearance and health and public harmony in Abu Dhabi.
According to the law, a fine of Dh5,000 will be imposed for first violation; Dh10,000 for violation of the law for a second time; and Dh20,000 for third or repeated violations.
