A 29-year-old Emirati motorist was airlifted to a hospital after he sustained critical, multiple injuries in a road accident on the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed road in the emirate of Umm Al Quwain on Monday.
The initial enactment of the accident showed that the driver lost control over the steering wheel close to Exit No. 90 in the direction of Ras Al Khaimah, said Col Saeed Obaid bin Aran, director of traffic and patrols department of the UAQ Police.
"The injured man was airlifted to the Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah." The accident probably happened due to speeding or inattentive driving, Col Aran pointed out.
He added that they were alerted about the mishap at 10.20am on Monday.
"A traffic patrol was dispatched to the reported site, and a rescue chopper of the RAK Police was pressed into service."
Col Aran stressed that all drivers must observe traffic rules and regulations, and avoid speeding, while adding that seat belt must be worn all the time.
