As many as 770 fake face masks were seized from a pharmacy and an outlet and their operation ceased by the consumer protection section of the department of economic development in Umm Al Quwain.
Some of the masks seized during the intensive inspection campaign were of unknown origin, according to sources. "The 770 confiscated masks did not meet the prescribed standards."
The department has also closed down two restaurants for failing to adhere to the home delivery regulation during the national disinfection programme, they added.
"Up to 35 pharmacies were issued warning letters for raising the price without permission," the sources pointed out.
The department urged the public to report any violation on this hot line: 0567304566.
"The department's inspectors are keen and prepared to address every complaint," they underlined, urging the public to stop buying masks that don't follow the set standards for their own safety and well-being.
"All eateries need to strictly observe the rules laid down during disinfection programme from 8pm to 6am, and only provide home delivery service."
