A restaurant has been shut down in Al Ain on charges of flouting food hygiene rules.

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has ordered the closure of "Mazali Restaurant", which is located at Nahal in Al Ain because it was posing public health hazards.

Officials said the facility was found to be violating terms and conditions related to food and health safety for over two months.

The ADAFSA authorities found three violations of poor levels of hygiene.

The closure order will remain in force till the violations are corrected and all necessary food safety requirements are implemented to ensure public safety.

The ADAFSA is known to conduct periodic inspection drives for compliance with food safety requirements.

The public has been urged to report any violations they detect in food outlets or if there is any doubt about the contents of the food products. Calls can be made to the Abu Dhabi government’s toll-free number 800555 to ensure a legal action can be taken against errant eateries.
