A top UAE diplomat said on Sunday that any defensive steps taken by the country will be clearly announced through official channels, dismissing speculation circulating on social media about potential military manoeuvres.
In a statement posted on the social platform X, Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE President, emphasised that the country’s response to the current security situation stemming from Iranian aggression would be transparent and publicly communicated.

“Any defensive measures that the state will take will be public and clear, and will not rely on press leaks or narratives from unknown sources and intentions," Gargash wrote.
He added that the UAE's objective is to stop this ongoing aggression against the country and other Gulf states, not to be dragged into a wider escalation.
Earlier, he had called on Iran to act responsibly, pointing that Tehran's actions had isolated the country and warned the Islamic Republic not to target its neighbours, saying “Your war is not with your neighbours”.
He had urged Iran to “return to reason”, warning that recent attacks on Gulf states represent a strategic miscalculation. In a post on social media, Gargash said the escalation reinforces concerns about Iran’s role as a source of instability in the region.
Prior to Gargash's statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the UAE is currently in a state of defence after what it described as "brutal and unprovoked" aggression by Iran.
In its statement, the ministry said the strikes represent a “flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter” and constitute a direct infringement on the UAE's sovereignty and security.
Officials said the country retains the right under international law to take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty, national security and territorial integrity.
Drawn into the war between the US, Israel and Iran, the UAE reported four deaths and 112 minor and moderate injuries on Sunday since Tehran began retaliatory strikes on US assets on February 28. The strikes have not been limited to US assets. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed Iranian attacks targeted infrastructure and civilian sites. The barrage included more than 1,400 ballistic missiles and drones.
