UAE President accepts Trump's invitation to join Gaza 'Board of Peace'

This announcement follows the appointment of Reem Al Hashimy, UAE's Minister of State for International Cooperation as member of the Gaza Executive Board

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has accepted the invitation from the United States to join the "Board of Peace", the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mofa) announced on January 20.
The Ministry emphasised that the UAE’s decision to join the "Board of Peace" reflects the importance of fully implementing US President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza.
Mofa reiterated that the peace plan is critical to realising the legitimate rights of Palestinians, adding that the UAE's participation reflects its long-standing commitment to peace and regional stability.

This announcement also follows the appointment of Reem Al Hashimy, UAE's Minister of State for International Cooperation as member of the Gaza Executive Board — a body that serves as the link between the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) and broader 'Board of Peace'.
The UAE joined several Arab countries invited by President Trump to take part in 'Board of Peace', as part of as part of phase two of what US calls the "20-point plan to end the Gaza conflict".
According to a White House statement, the body — chaired by Trump — aims to provide strategic oversight, mobilise international resources, and ensure accountability as Gaza moves towards peace and reconstruction.
Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff noted that the process will involve "the full demilitarisation and reconstruction of Gaza, primarily the disarmament of all unauthorised personnel.
