Senior Emiratis at happiness centres in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman celebrated Eid Al Adha with a touching surprise from the Ministry of Community Development (MoCD).
The MoCD teamed up Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank to make the seniors feel all the love and gratitude on the special occasion. Gifts were handed out, and e-screens were put up so that the elderly could exchange greetings with their families.
"Senior Emiratis are the cornerstone in building the nation. It is the duty of each member of the community to give them back what they did for all of us," said Alia Al Joker, director of Family Development Department at the MoCD.
Called 'You are our Eid Joy', the nationwide initiative reached the MoCD-affiliated senior Emiratis' centre in Ajman; the Dubai Senior Emiratis Centre at the Dubai Health Authority; and the seniors' home at Sharjah Social Services Department. It comes as part of the UAE government's efforts to ensure the happiness and welfare of senior citizens.
Supporting the programme, Mariam Al Tamimi, chairman of the Community Responsibility Council at Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, said: "We, at Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, are pleased to collaborate with the Ministry of Community Development in launching the initiative You are Eid Joy as part of consolidating the culture of social responsibility as a core value in the Emirati society."
