Etihad Airways announced the resumption of scheduled operations
A total of 364 employees and 522 contractual workers of Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman have received the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccine, as part of a campaign carried out by the civic body in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Community Development.
The Municipality seeks to provide the China’s Sinopharm vaccine, which was approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the UAE Ministry of Health, after ensuring its efficacy and safety for the recipients.
Abdul Rahman Mohammad Al Nuaimi, the Director-General of the municipality, told Khaleej Times that the civic body is keen on the health and safety of its employees amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The municipality’s employees and contractual workers volunteered to take the optional jab in a bid to contain the spread of the contagion, he said,
Al Nuaimi said the civic authorities carried out an in-house survey in a bid to geta sense of how many employees and contractual workers were interested to sign up for the vaccination drive.
“The vaccination programme is a constructive step to ensure recovery from the viral infection and to rein in the spread of the outbreak,” he said. He said the civic employees and contractual workers are more vulnerable to contract SARS-CoV-2, which causes Covid-19, since they come in physical contact with people from all walks of life.
The jab has been administered to the municipality’s inspectors, observers, and also to employees and contractual workers assigned to other field jobs. Vaccine recipients would take the jab in two phases and the second one would be given after 21 days as a booster dose, he added.
The civic authorities are also keeping a tab on the employees and contractual workers’ health after taking the optional jab.
