The UAE strongly condemned and denounced the targeting by the Port Sudan authorities of a hospital in East Darfur, which resulted in the death and injury of dozens of people.
The Emirates said the attack constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, affirmed the UAE’s categorical rejection of targeting civilians and civilian institutions, and stressed the need to protect medical facilities, institutions, and health sector workers, emphasising that they should not be a target of the conflict.
The ministry reiterated the UAE’s firm position calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, a cessation of hostilities, the facilitation of unhindered access for urgent humanitarian aid, and a serious transitional process led by a comprehensive civilian government that is fully independent of the warring parties and extremist groups.
The authority also called on the Security Council to take all necessary measures to ensure full compliance by the warring parties.
It expressed its condolences and sympathy to the brotherly Sudanese people and to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to all the injured.
