UAE citizens travelling to Georgia must have health, accident insurance under new rule

Emirati citizens travelling to Georgia must present health insurance and accident insurance policies upon arrival to the country, according to a new rule announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE (Mofa).

According to the authority, the documentation must satisfy the following criteria:

1. Both insurance policies must be valid for the entire duration of stay and issued in English or Georgian.

2. The insurance coverage amount must be no less than 30,000 Georgian Lari.

3. The policies must be issued by reliable insurance companies, whether international or Georgian, or through airlines.

4. This decision does not apply to holders of diplomatic, special, and mission passports.

The decision came into effect on January 1, 2026, and applies to citizens travelling from this date on onwards to Georgia.

In 2025, the UAE maintained its position as the world’s strongest passport for the seventh consecutive year, according to The Passport Index 2025 released by Arton Capital.

While the year saw most major passports losing ground, the UAE remained firmly out in front. A powerful passport delivers meaningful advantages to both individuals and the wider economy.
