UAE called for a full investigation and accountability for the killing of 15 humanitarian workers in Gaza, an incident which drew widespread global condemnation.

On March 23, 15 paramedics and emergency responders were shot dead near Rafah, and buried in a shallow grave. Their bodies were found only a week later by Palestinian Red Crescent and United Nations officials.

The Israeli military initially said it opened fire after unmarked vehicles approached "suspiciously" in the dark, but changed its account after video emerged showing clearly marked ambulances and fire trucks with their lights on coming under fire.

After the video, an Israeli military official said the initial report received from the field did not describe lights but that investigators were looking at "operational information" and were trying to understand if this was due to an error by the person making the initial report.

Palestinian Red Crescent paramedic Munther Abed, who survived the incident, also said he had seen soldiers opening fire on clearly marked emergency response vehicles. According to PRCS, medic Asaad Al-Nsasrah was also detained on March 23 by the Israeli occupation forces, who later released him.

In a UN Security Council Open Debate on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question, the UAE called for an end to the war on Gaza.

The Emirates also stressed the need for unified political will to halt illegal practices in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, end the occupation, and pave the way for the two-state solution.

The urgent, sustainable and unhindered access and delivery of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip at-scale is necessary, the UAE said.
