UAE announces first national cybersecurity guidelines for drones

The UAE Cybersecurity council announced on Saturday the first national guidelines for drones.
Authorities said that with the increasing use of drones in various sectors such as agriculture, environmental monitoring, and logistics, it has become imperative to establish the necessary operational signals to proactively address potential cyber threats to protect airspace, infrastructure, and data integrity.

The development is part of a strategic collaboration between the Cybersecurity Council and Digital Reach, a cybersecurity and digital transformation solutions provider and part of the Reach Group. The collaboration also includes Shieldworkz, a cybersecurity company focused on technologies to protect operational systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), and drones.

Dr Mohammed Al Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Government Cybersecurity Council, said that these important national guidelines reflect the country's leadership and proactive approach to safeguarding the digital space.
Malek Melhem, CEO of Reach Group, said the group is committed to strengthening the UAE's digital and cyber infrastructure.
Mohamed Khaled, Vice President of Growth and Corporate Transformation at Reach Group, said that this initiative supports safe innovation in the field of drones and addresses the growing cyber risks that threaten national airspace and infrastructure.
