While schools throughout Abu Dhabi embark on a two-week spring break starting March 28, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek) has launched international study options and career expansion programme for pupils.

Adek said on Saturday that students in Grade 10 or Year 11 to Grade 12 and Year 13 can join a spring break virtual pop-up series, running from Monday (March 29) to Wednesday (April 7). The series will explore study opportunities in Finland, the UK and the US.

A Press brief from Adek stated: “The webinars are being run under Adek’s Rize University Preparation and Career Guidance Programme (UPCG Programme), which help students enhance their core academic skills required for higher education, explore career and post-secondary pathways.”

“We recognise that this has been an exceptionally challenging academic year for parents and students alike and we want to continue to support them and provide more learning and engagement opportunities over the spring break,” an Adek spokesperson said.

“The seminars also aid students' preparation for applying to leading domestic and international tertiary education institutions and identify best-in-class homegrown talent for Adek’s international scholarship opportunities,” the brief added.

The webinars will focus on a theme related to studying and living in each country. The two-hour ‘Study in Finland’ webinars will run from 3pm to 5pm on March 29-30.

Meanwhile, the ‘Study in the USA’ pop-up webinars will run from 4pm to 7pm from March 31 to April 1 when students will learn the benefits of studying in the US. Day one discussions will explore choices of the US universities and the US application process, while day two will be earmarked for an introduction to the Common App, the world’s largest global university application platform.

The ‘Study in the UK’ webinars, which will be delivered by the Wiser Study Education Consultancy, UCAS, and UK Higher Education Partners, will run from 4pm to 6pm from April 5 to 7. These will provide students with a comprehensive overview of the United Kingdom, the benefits of studying at a British university and the steps and strategies needed to submit a successful application.

Students will also have the opportunity to discover more than 70 activities and programmes on Adek’s Activity Platform

(https://activityplatform.adek.gov.ae) covering STEM and Innovation, Arts, Language and Culture, Enrichment, Physical Education and Wellbeing, it stated.
