Two kids die in car crash

SHARJAH - Two children were killed and three other people were injured when a Land Cruiser driven by a UAE national ploughed into a stationary Nissan car on Sharjah-Dhaid highway, more than 30 kilometres from Sharjah, on Thursday night.

The owner of the Nissan car, Haroon Rashid, from Kerala, was returning from Dhaid with his pregnant wife and two daughters Ayesha Diya, 7, and Dina Ruqiya, 3. As he felt sleepy, Rashid decided to take a nap by parking the car by the roadside. As fate would have it, the Land Cruiser hit the parked car from behind. The family in the car as well as the driver of Land Cruiser suffered injuries. All of them were rushed to Al Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah. The two girls later succumbed to their injuries.As a result of the impact, the children's mother, Fabina, underwent complications and she delivered a Caesarean child. The woman's condition continued to be critical till late last night. Ayesha was a grade one student of Indian School Sharjah.
