Two Khaleej Times staffers, both hailing from Kerala's Kasargod district, passed away on the same day last week.

P.S. Seedi joined Khaleej Times in 1977 and worked in the classifieds department until he left in 2008. He was 78 when he suffered a heart attack on Saturday.

He is survived by wife and two sons.

"Seedi was a gem of a person who kept close ties with his former colleagues even though he left more than 15 years ago. I met him six months ago and the first thing he asked was how KT circulation was," remembered A. Abdulla, former IT professional with Galadari Brothers Group.

"He was so sincere to the organisation that even years after he left, he was concerned with how the company was faring. He was always smiling and was very caring and considerate towards everyone around him," Abdulla said.

Bappu Valappil, former office boy who worked in the KT newsroom, also died of cardiac issues on Saturday.

Bappu, who worked with the Galadari group from 1996 to 2004, is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.

"Bappu lived for his family and society. On his return from the Gulf, he was active in social activities and was well-liked by people of all faith. He will be missed by everyone," said Bappu's brother-in-law Abdurahman, who works with KT's circulation department.

Suresh Pattali, executive editor of Khaleej Times, who had worked with both Seedi and Bappu, remembered them as very well-natured individuals.

"While Seedi was jovial and loved to discuss state politics, Bappu was calm but always alerted me on breaking stories coming on the news tickers," Suresh said.
