According to Abdullah Al Suwaidi, director-general of Sharjah civil defence, the two fires were doused in less than 30 minutes. Firefighters played a great role in preventing the fire from extending to neighbouring apartments, and to nearby warehouses in the case of the first fire.
Al Suwaidi said they received a call at 11pm, and firefighting teams were dispatched within a short time. They managed to evacuate the areas and prevent any causality. Police patrols and teams from the emergency department of the Sharjah Police also rushed to the sites to deal with the accidents.
The two sites were handed over to the forensic laboratory for investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
