Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, explained that traffic enforcement teams, in cooperation with the Cyber Investigation Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, identified and seized the vehicle after the driver was seen carrying out reckless show off manoeuvres. The driver appeared to be boasting about his driving skills while exposing his own life and the lives of others to direct danger.
He added that this type of behaviour is classified as a serious violation that poses an immediate threat to motorists and pedestrians. Investigations confirmed that the driver had entered the country as a tourist and that the vehicle belonged to a car rental office.
Earlier this week, the police had seized 49 vehicles, 25 motorcycles and issued 3,153 traffic violations during the 54th UAE National Day celebrations. These violations resulted from dangerous and disruptive driving by a number of motorists.
They shared a video showing revellers leaning out of windows, and popping out of sun roofs during the celebrations. Some also had stickers and spray paint on their windshields, which are not allowed.
